Kristin Nurkowski Memorial Graduate Award

Open to female graduate students in Botany or Zoology at UBC Vancouver. Preference is given to candidates who returned to university after a break from studies and/or have demonstrated leadership in gender equity in science.

Awards are funded through an endowment established by the family and friends of Kristin Nurkowski (M.Sc. 2018), a UBC graduate student whose research focused on improving food security through plant breeding. Recommendations alternate between the Departments of Botany and Zoology.

Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the relevant department in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
