About this scholarship
Koniag Shareholders and registered Descendants age 18 or older with at least a 2.5 GPA who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at accredited institutions may apply for competitive KEF General Scholarships. All eligible applicants receive funding; higher-scoring applicants receive larger awards based on the available budget.
The application opens December 15 and closes March 15. Submit an essay on Alutiiq heritage, a resume, transcript, and letter of recommendation. Unregistered Descendants must complete Shareholder Descendant registration before disbursement.

- Application deadline: March 15 (annually)
- Returning KEF recipients must also update responses a-d and answer one additional reflective topic
- Applicants with GPA below 2.5 must also describe steps they will take to improve as a student and raise their GPA
- Applicants below a 2.5 GPA are instructed to describe steps to improve their GPA; this conflicts with the stated minimum 2.5 GPA eligibility.
