For undergraduate or graduate Computer Science students at UBC Vancouver who are involved with the UBC Emerging Media Lab and who demonstrate mentorship, creativity, and passion for using emerging technology for social good.
Awards are available through an endowment established by Anne and Allan Karasin in memory of their son Kirk Karasin (1978-2020).
Made on the recommendation of the Department of Computer Science in consultation with the Emerging Media Lab, and for graduate students in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. No separate application.
Kirk worked at UBC Studios and the Emerging Media Lab, where he mentored students and helped push innovative projects such as UBC's first 360 video production.
