About this scholarship

Graduating high school seniors who are Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA) members with sickle cell disease (not sickle cell trait), U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and hold at least a 3.0 GPA (or can document hardship) may apply for the Kermit B. Nash Academic Scholarships.

One recipient receives $5,000 total, paid as $2,500 per fall and spring semester for up to four years while maintaining a 2.5 college GPA and submitting transcripts each semester.

Selection weighs academics, SAT scores, leadership, community service, and a personal essay on sickle cell disease.
