About this scholarship
New York City high school seniors planning to pursue a music-related college major may apply for the BMI Foundation's Kavi Ohri Memorial Award.
One annual award is given; amounts vary. Selection is based primarily on essay responses, with preference for AAPI-identifying students, first-generation college students, and applicants with mentorship experience.
Submit the application and essay through the BMI Foundation website by January 15.

- May only submit one application per BMI Foundation awards program
- Applicant submits ONE essay responding to one of the four prompts listed

- Strong consideration given to applicants who are AAPI-identifying, have a history of mentorship with other students/children, and/or are first in their family to pursue post-secondary education
- Only one application may be submitted per BMI Foundation awards program.
