About this scholarship

The School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe awards the Katrin H. Lamon Fellowship annually to one Native American scholar, either pre- or postdoctoral, working in the humanities or social sciences, or to a Native American writer with a substantial body of published work. The nine-month residential fellowship (September 1 through May 31) provides time to complete a dissertation or book manuscript, with a campus apartment, library assistance, and a stipend: $50,000 for junior (including pre-doctoral) scholars and $70,000 for senior scholars.

Fellows must be in residence for at least 90 percent of the appointment.

The online application system opens September 1 each year and closes the first Monday in November (November 2, 2026 for the 2027-2028 residency), with awards announced in March.
