Judah Shumiatcher Memorial Award in Architecture

Outstanding students in the Master of Architecture program at UBC Vancouver are eligible for these awards, with preference given to students whose designs encourage and inspire human interaction, experience and exchange. Awards totalling $2,300 are distributed among recipients; individual award amounts vary. There is no student application; awards are made on the recommendation of the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The awards are funded through an endowment established by the Shumiatcher family and friends in memory of Judah Shumiatcher (1928-2019), a UBC architecture graduate who designed human-centric private homes and commercial complexes across North America.
