About this scholarship
Racial and ethnic minority United Methodist students pursuing ordained ministry (deacon or elder) who are age 30 or under, have at least two years of UMC membership, and are enrolled at a UM-related college or seminary may apply for the Journey Toward Ordained Ministry Scholarship through GBHEM. Undergraduate applicants need a 2.85 GPA or higher; graduate applicants need a 3.0 GPA or higher.
The award provides $5,000 per year, plus mentoring and an annual mandatory retreat.
Apply through the GBHEM scholarship portal, which opens in January. You may submit only one GBHEM application per year and indicate your preferred programs on the first page.
