Josephine de Karman Fellowship

Final-year PhD students at Caltech, Stanford, USC, or a University of California campus who will defend their dissertation in or about June 2027 may apply for the Josephine de Karman Fellowship. Undergraduates, master's students, JD candidates, and postdocs are ineligible. International students enrolled at the listed California universities may apply. Humanities applicants receive special consideration.

Four fellowships of $28,000 each are awarded for one academic year and are not renewable. Funds are paid through the recipient's university fellowship office.

Apply through the Pasadena Community Foundation scholarship portal. Applications for the 2026-27 cycle are due January 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific.
