Jordan L. Burke Memorial Award in Forestry

Outstanding graduate students in the UBC Vancouver Faculty of Forestry who have demonstrated a passion for teaching in their roles as Teaching Assistants may be considered for this award.

The award amount varies. Awards are funded through an endowment established by family, friends, and colleagues, along with matching funds from the Faculty of Forestry, in memory of Jordan L. Burke (1982-2019).

Recipients are recommended by the Faculty of Forestry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.

Jordan (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. 2016) was a postdoctoral research and teaching fellow with the Forest Insect Disturbance Ecology Laboratory. His research focused on the range expansion of the mountain pine beetle in British Columbia and Alberta, and he served as a TA and instructor to many undergraduate students in the Faculty of Forestry.
