About this scholarship

Illinois residents of at least 50 percent Italian ancestry who are admitted to or enrolled in an undergraduate journalism or media communications program may apply for the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans John Fischetti Scholarship.

Awards are up to $2,000. The number of recipients varies. Selection weighs Italian heritage, academic achievement, school and community involvement, and application quality.

Submit the JCCIA application as one digital PDF with a 500 word essay, photo, transcripts, proof of enrollment, two recommendations, and any published writings by the deadline.

The scholarship honors John Fischetti, a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist.
