About this scholarship
Members of an Iowa United Methodist Church who are enrolled or planning to enroll at a United Methodist-affiliated college in Iowa may apply for the Westmar Scholarship. High school applicants need at least a 3.0 GPA; college applicants need at least 2.5. Preference goes to active students and, when criteria are equal, applicants from northwest Iowa counties.
Thirteen awards of $3,600 are given.
Apply through the IUMF Kaleidoscope portal between December 1 and March 1. Submit a transcript, FAFSA or tax return, a personal statement essay, and three recommendation letters from a pastor, school advisor or teacher, and a community leader.
The fund honors Westmar College alumni and donors after the college's closing.

- ACT and/or SAT scores optional (may be considered)
- Must be a member of an Iowa United Methodist Church
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll at a United Methodist affiliated college in Iowa
- Minimum GPA 3.0 (high school applicant) or 2.5 (college applicant) on a 4.0 scale
- All application materials must be submitted online via the Kaleidoscope portal
- Application window: December 1 - March 1 annually
- ACT and/or SAT scores are optional and may be considered.
- When other criteria are equal, preference goes to applicants from northwest Iowa counties.
