About this scholarship
Outstanding Indigenous graduate students (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit, and possibly Indigenous students from Alaska and other US states) entering or continuing master's or doctoral programs at UBC Vancouver may apply. Priority is given to Indigenous students whose traditional territory falls, at least in part, within Canada. Professional and coursework-only master's programs are eligible, excluding programs not administered by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (such as MBA, MEng, MEL, MM, MDS).
Fellowships provide an annual stipend of $17,500 plus tuition for master's students (until the end of the second year of the master's program) or $25,000 plus tuition for doctoral students (up to four years or until the end of the fifth year). Continued support requires satisfactory academic progress.
Applicants submit an application form, an outline of proposed research or professional aspirations, transcripts, a CV, and two reference forms to their graduate program, which nominates candidates to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
