Ilmar Weemees Memorial Award in Civil Engineering

Graduate students in the UBC Vancouver Department of Civil Engineering who demonstrate an interest in in-situ testing and/or geophysical methods for solving geotechnical programs may be nominated for this award. Preference goes to students who demonstrate strong collaboration skills.

Awards of varying amounts come from ConeTec in memory of Ilmar A. Weemees (1964-2024). No separate application is required; the Faculty of Applied Science makes recommendations in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Ilmar joined ConeTec in 1989 and developed innovative testing methods and data processing software used widely in geotechnical engineering.
