About this scholarship
South Dakota students, including high school seniors, current college students, and nontraditional students, who will attend a South Dakota college, university, or technical school may apply. You must be a permanent South Dakota resident.
Four awards totaling $20,000 are granted: $10,000 for first place, $5,000 for second, and two at $2,500. Write a short essay about someone in your community who serves others and deliver your application in person to a participating IIASD member insurance office by February 28.

- Sponsor: Independent Insurance Agents of South Dakota (IIASD)
- Eligibility: South Dakota student (high school senior, current college student, or nontraditional student) attending a SD college, university, or technical school in the fall
- Application/essay must be dropped off in person at a participating IIASD member office by February 28th (no exceptions)
- Total $20,000 awarded across top 5 nominations (1st $10,000; remaining split among 2nd-5th)
- Essay is a nomination of a community member who serves others (not about the applicant); focuses on who they are, how they serve, why it matters, and how they inspired you
- Application and essay must be delivered in person to a participating IIASD member insurance office; no exceptions.
- Eligible student populations include high school seniors, current college students, and nontraditional students.
