About this scholarship
High school seniors or current undergraduate or graduate students in Jamaica or the United States majoring in nursing, music, or a related field may apply for one of two $500 scholarships awarded annually (one high school, one college).
Requires a 3.0 GPA, a one-page essay on how you use music to contribute to your community, transcript (unofficial accepted), and one letter of recommendation from a professor or director.
The scholarship honors Hyacinth Scarlett, a registered nurse, opera singer, and community music leader who directed church and nurses association choirs and served as pianist and music director for the local Salvation Army.

- Transcript (unofficial accepted)
- One signed letter of recommendation from a professor or director for college applicants, or a leader or director for high school applicants
- Be a current undergraduate/graduate student OR a high school senior pursuing studies in nursing, music, or a related field
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 overall GPA with a transcript copy (unofficial acceptable)
- Provide one signed letter of recommendation from a professor/director (college) or leader/director (high school) attesting to community work
- Be studying in Jamaica or the United States
- Deadline: April 23rd annually
- The recommendation must attest to the applicant's community work.
