About this scholarship
U.S. citizen graduating seniors from public high schools in one of 68 participating Texas counties outside the Houston metro may apply for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan Scholarship. You must rank in the top half of your class, meet minimum ACT or SAT scores, and plan to attend an accredited, not-for-profit Texas college or university for a bachelor's degree.
Seventy-nine recipients receive $5,000 per year for four years ($20,000 total). All Show scholarship recipients must demonstrate academic potential, citizenship or leadership, and financial need.

- Complete the FAFSA and submit the Student Aid Report (SAR); 'Estimated Expected Family Contribution' reports not accepted
- Two-part online application via Kaleidoscope (apply.mykaleidoscope.com): Part 1 student application, Part 2 school official submission (class rank, GPA, official transcript)
- Financial Aid Essay required (prompt text not published)
- Additional essay only if applying as an Exhibitor: 'What does participating at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo mean to you, and how has participating in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo influ
