About this scholarship

U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled in grades 9 through 12 who plan to attend a U.S. college may apply for the House Scholarship Foundation Aspiring Scholars Award. Submit a high school transcript with your application.

The foundation grants need- and merit-based scholarships to high school students nationwide. Award amounts vary by recipient.

Complete the application at nationalhsf.org, including personal and academic information, an essay on your educational aspirations and financial need, and evidence of extracurricular activities and achievements.

  • Four short-answer/general questions are ALL required (50-100 words OR 600-character limit each)
  • Seven themed essay prompts are offered; applicant must choose and answer TWO of them (150-300 words OR 2000-character limit each)
  • Extracurricular activities (1000-character limit)
  • Unweighted GPA
  • High school transcript (official or unofficial) link
  • Demographic info: gender, ethnic background, household income, and checkboxes (lunch assistance, military family, disability, parental separation, foster care/homelessness, non-native English)
  • Applicant signature and parent/guardian signature
  • Eligibility: U.S. citizen or permanent resident, high school student (grades 9-12), planning to attend a U.S. college
  • Application requests educational aspirations, financial-need information, unweighted GPA, demographic information, and household income.
