About this scholarship
Recent college and graduate school alumni considering careers in international peace and security may apply for the Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship, a full-time six-to-nine month placement with a participating nonprofit in Washington, DC. U.S. citizens living in the U.S. or overseas are eligible. Non-U.S. citizens may apply only if they live in the U.S. and have work authorization for the fellowship duration. A baccalaureate degree must be completed before the fellowship starts. Preference goes to applicants without substantial prior public-interest or government experience in the DC area.
Fellows receive a monthly stipend, partial health insurance support, travel to Washington, and a professional development allowance. Amounts vary.
Application materials include a CV, a personal essay (up to 750 words), a policy essay (up to 750 words) on an emerging peace and security threat, transcripts, and two reference letters.
