About this scholarship
U.S. citizens with demonstrated financial need (combined family income of $70,000 or less) and a record of public service may apply. Undergraduate applicants must be graduating high school seniors, first-year students at an accredited four-year college, or transfers into an accredited four-year college.
Undergraduate awards are generally $3,000 per year for up to four years; law school awards are up to $15,000 per year for up to three years for students pursuing public-interest law careers. Amount varies by student level.
Complete the application with documentation demonstrating financial need, academic achievement, and commitment to advancing racial equality. Named for former New York Governor and U.S. Senator Herbert Lehman, this fund has supported outstanding students since 1964.
