About this scholarship
Iowa high school juniors who are U.S. citizens may apply for the Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award through the Hoover Presidential Foundation. Children or grandchildren of staff or trustees of the Hoover Presidential Foundation, Library and Museum, or National Historic Site are not eligible.
Approximately fifteen finalists each receive $1,500 after proposing and completing a community service project of their own design. Projects should reflect values Herbert Hoover demonstrated through public service. Grades, test scores, essays, and financial need are not evaluated.
Selected students attend presentation weekends in West Branch, Iowa in June and October to share their completed projects.
