About this scholarship
For outstanding MD students enrolled in the UBC Faculty of Medicine. Preference is given to students who demonstrate an interest in general medicine, family practice, or other areas of primary care.
Awards are offered through an endowment established by Dr. Helmut (B.Sc. 1970, M.D. 1976) and Donna Meisl. Award amounts vary.
There is no separate application. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Medicine.
Helmut worked as an emergency care doctor after completing his medical education at UBC. The couple established the award to highlight the importance of family doctors.
