About this scholarship
Low-income students ages 15 to 25 who live in a Hearthstone Housing Foundation property or an eligible surrounding county may apply for the Hearthstone Housing Foundation Scholarship.
Awards range from $500 to $5,000 for high school or undergraduate students. High school applicants need a 3.0 or higher GPA; current college students need a 2.75 or higher GPA. Funds support college preparation, tuition, and other academic expenses but not graduate study or study abroad.
Submit a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and complete a phone interview. Disbursements are split across fall and spring semesters.

- Statement is graded on Community-Mindedness, Persistence/Overcoming Obstacles, Initiative/Leadership, Financial Need, and overall writing quality
- Renewal applicants must submit a new statement incorporating growth from the past year; resubmitting a prior year's statement results in automatic disqualification
- Application is submitted through the SurveyMonkey Apply / Kaleidoscope portal
- Graduate study and study abroad are not supported.
- Disbursements are split across fall and spring semesters.
- Renewal applicants must submit a new personal statement.
