About this scholarship

Graduates of a high school in Auglaize or Allen County, Ohio, or residents of those counties at the time of high school graduation, may apply for Hauss-Helms Foundation grants and scholarships. High school applicants need an ACT score of 16 or an SAT score of 880, rank in the top 50% of their class, and have a 3.0 GPA. Prior grant recipients may reapply in later years if they maintain at least a 2.0 academic average.

The Hauss-Helms Foundation, Inc. was established in 1965 by Besse Hauss Helms and Walter B. Helms to help worthy students from the Auglaize and Allen County area continue education past high school.

  • Written recommendation/statement from principal, guidance counselor, or faculty advisor (required of HS seniors and applicants who did not receive a 2025-2026 grant)
  • Parent information section + parent/guardian signature
  • Applicant signature; application RECEIVED by the Foundation by March 16, 2026
  • High-school applicant academic-score, GPA, and class-rank criteria are conditional on being a high-school applicant.
  • Required short-answer prompts address financial need, intended school, and work history.
