About this scholarship

Aspiring artists from Louisiana who are high school seniors (or homeschool students or GED recipients) seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts, or applicants seeking a Master of Fine Arts, may apply for the Gustave Blache III Art Scholarships for Aspiring Artists to attend the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City. The award depends on successful application and acceptance into SVA’s illustration or other fine arts program and may not be used at any other school. Animation is excluded.

Two awards are available. Each is $25,000 annually toward tuition ($25,000 of a $50,000 annual tuition fee): four years for the BFA award and two years for the MFA award.

Submit a portfolio of original artwork with 10 to 15 samples through the LEH application portal, along with an SVA application.

The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and artist Gustave Blache III (an SVA alumnus) partnered to foster Louisiana’s young artists; The Helis Foundation John Scott Center is also named among the partners in some materials.
