About this scholarship

Colorado residents pursuing undergraduate environmental, natural resource, climate, or outdoor industry degrees at accredited Colorado institutions may apply for the Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado Grossman Scholarship.

Awards range from $5,000 to $10,000, paid directly to the institution. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors and for undergraduate or non-traditional students.

Applicants must demonstrate commitment to environmental stewardship through volunteerism, education, or professional experience and submit three examples, an essay, a recommendation letter, and unofficial transcripts. VOC supports Colorado students who have shown a proven commitment to caring for the state's natural resources.

  • Post-award: write a short blog post for VOC including a photo, and attend a VOC volunteer project (April-October 2026) or serve as a VOC campus ambassador
