About this scholarship
Veterans who served honorably, active-duty service members, or spouses, children, or grandchildren of veterans killed or wounded in service-related circumstances may apply for awards up to $5,000. Preference goes to combat-wounded veterans or first-responder families pursuing a degree at an accredited college, university, or trade school.
Renewal awards may be received up to four years with reapplication. Submit DD-214 (or DD-1300 or Purple Heart proof for killed or wounded cases), a financial-need essay, and one recommendation.
The Graydon and Myrth Fox Scholarship helps veterans and military families further their education and improve their circumstances.

- One letter of recommendation from a non-relative

- DD 1300 form (if veteran killed in service) OR Purple Heart proof (if wounded)
- First responder verification/certification (if applicable)
- Supplemental questions covering veteran status, combat involvement, first responder status, family hardship, disability/chronic illness, and caregiving responsibilities
- General Sacramento Region Community Foundation application must be completed first
