About this scholarship
Grain and General Services Union (GSU) members in good standing (signed union card on file), their spouses, and dependents age 25 or younger who are enrolled in an accredited diploma, degree, or certificate program may apply for GSU scholarships. Full-time study is required for dependent awards; member and spouse awards are open to full-time or part-time students at community colleges, universities, trade schools, or technical institutes in any country.
GSU allocates $10,000 annually. Three dependent scholarships of $2,000 each are available, plus member and spouse awards ($2,000 full-time, $1,000 part-time). Unused member/spouse funds may be redirected to additional dependent awards in $2,000 increments. Students may apply every year and may receive at most one scholarship per year.
Submit the dependent or member/spouse form with a non-family recommendation letter, proof of enrollment for the award year, and a two-page essay on the year's topic by July 1.
