About this scholarship

High school seniors, college freshmen, or sophomores within 125 miles of Charlotte, North Carolina or Knoxville, Tennessee pursuing a non-performance theater career such as design, stage management, direction, or choreography may apply for the Gordon Hay Scholarship.

Up to two recipients receive up to $10,000 for special learning opportunities such as workshops, conferences, or internships. Funds do not cover tuition or living expenses and may be used over a four-year undergraduate period through the Blumenthal Arts Education Department.

Submit an application with essay, SAR, references, and a finalist portfolio presentation. The fund honors Gordon Hay and supports transformational growth through non-performance theater work.

  • One-to-two-page essay on desired degree, theater career aspirations, and intended educational use of funds.
