About this scholarship

North Carolina high school seniors and community college transfer students from qualifying rural, economically distressed counties who plan to attend a participating North Carolina college or university may apply for the Golden LEAF Scholarship. Applicants need a minimum 2.5 GPA, must complete the FAFSA, and should intend to return to a rural North Carolina community after graduation.

Recipients receive up to $3,500 per year for up to four years (high school seniors) or up to three years (transfer students). Approximately 215 awards are granted.

Submit the electronic Golden LEAF application and a transcript with final grades for the most recent fall semester.
