Gold Star Mission Education Scholarship

Students with an Illinois connection pursuing higher education, whether an undergraduate degree, certificate, or trades/technical certification, may apply for a Gold Star Mission Education Scholarship. Applicants must be high school seniors at the time of application, hold a high school diploma or GED, or be enrolled in an accredited college or certificate-granting institution.

Awards of $1,000 may cover tuition, books, fees, on-campus room and board, approved tutoring, and other educational expenses approved by the student's school and the scholarship committee.

Apply online during the application period with a cover letter, essay on preserving the memory of fallen heroes, two recommendations, and transcripts. The program honors Illinois fallen military service members through scholarships for students who exemplify selfless service.
