About this scholarship

High school seniors and college freshmen nationwide who intend to make music a central part of their future may compete in the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society annual scholarship competition.

Six winners are selected across vocal and instrumental categories, with top prizes including awards up to $10,000. Applicants must choose one category and cannot enter both.

The application includes an audition uploaded to YouTube (two contrasting pieces, piano accompaniment only), a statement of musical intentions, and a completed application form. Semi-finalists travel to Clarinda, Iowa, for the June festival competition.

  • Audition Pieces: upload 2 music selections of your choice to YouTube and send the links (contrasting concert-quality selections recommended; Glenn Miller tunes not required)
  • Must be a graduating high school senior or first-year college student who intends to make music a central part of their future
  • Must be willing/able to travel to Clarinda, Iowa at own expense if selected as a semi-finalist
  • All documents submitted via assigned Dropbox by the April 20, 2026, 5:00 PM Central deadline
  • Applicants must enter only one category, instrumental or vocal.
