About this scholarship
Massachusetts residents pursuing undergraduate study in art may apply for the GFWC Massachusetts Pennies for Art Scholarship. Eligible applicants include high school seniors or home-schooled students in Massachusetts, or current undergraduates who meet their town's graduation standards.
Awards start at $500 for traditional or digital art portfolios. The total number of awards varies each year.
Applicants submit the federation's scholarship application by March 1, including a personal statement of up to 500 words, a recommendation from an instructor, a transcript, Massachusetts ID, and both a traditional and digital art portfolio.

- Applicant must be a senior in a Massachusetts high school, or home schooled and achieved the standards for graduation set by the town of residence
- Completed application form postmarked by the deadline (March 1)
- Letter of recommendation from high school art instructor (original on school letterhead)
- Traditional Art Portfolio: three different examples of original 2D artwork in three different mediums, matted not framed, not larger than 12" by 18"
- Digital Arts Version Portfolio: student work photographed and saved as JPEGs (one photo for 2D work, up to two for 3D work; min 540px, max 1920px)
- Copy of Massachusetts driver's license or high school ID
- Official transcript with grades
