About this scholarship
Massachusetts residents pursuing a degree in public health, at either the undergraduate or graduate level, may apply for the GFWC Massachusetts Catherine E. Philbin Scholarship through the state federation's scholarship application.
Awards start at $500 for undergraduates and up to $1,000 for graduate students. The total number of awards varies each year.
Applicants submit a transcript, letter of reference, Massachusetts ID, and a personal statement of up to 500 words on professional goals in public health. Applications are due March 1.

- Letter of reference from a high-school teacher, academic advisor, or college professor.
- Massachusetts driver's license or high-school/state ID.
- Official transcript.
- Graduate applicants: confirmation of acceptance to a graduate-level program, if received.
- Completed application form (postmarked/received no later than March 1, 2026)
- Letter of reference from a high school teacher, academic advisor, or college professor (original on school letterhead)
- Copy of Massachusetts Driver's License or High School/State ID
- Official transcript with grades
- Must maintain legal residence in Massachusetts; for public health study (undergraduate or graduate)
- Graduate applicants: confirmation of acceptance to a graduate-level program, if received
