About this scholarship

Faculty of Mathematics undergraduates at the University of Waterloo in any year may be nominated for exceptional contributions to basic mathematical research completed through an Undergraduate Research Assistant placement.

One award of $2,500 is given. The student must be nominated by their research supervisor; nominations are submitted by a Faculty of Mathematics department or school to the Mathematics Research Office (individual faculty nominations are not accepted). The nomination package includes supervisor letter(s), a one-page student research description, a CV, and any applicable papers. Deadline is April 24 (next business day if that falls on a weekend).

David Ash (BMath '87) established the award, named for Sophie Germain and Paul Erdős, to support the next generation of mathematical researchers.
