About this scholarship
Georgia residents who are high school seniors may apply for one of 42 Georgia Military Service Scholarships at the University of North Georgia. Applicants need a 3.0 GPA, a nomination from a Georgia legislator in their congressional district, and eligibility to enlist in the Georgia Army National Guard.
The scholarship is worth about $85,000 over four years, covering tuition, books, uniforms, fees, meals, and housing. Recipients also receive National Guard drill pay, GI Bill benefits, and ROTC contract pay. After graduation, scholars commission as officers and serve six years (four in the Georgia Army National Guard).
Applications open August 1 with a final deadline of February 1. Recipients enlist in the Georgia Army National Guard and participate in the Corps of Cadets while attending UNG.

- Be a legal resident of Georgia
- Obtain a nomination from a Georgia State Representative or Senator from your legislative district
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA and gain acceptance as a freshman cadet at UNG
- Meet Army National Guard enlistment standards / agree to enlist in the Georgia Army National Guard
- Schedule and complete an interview as part of the application process
- Agree to the 8-year service obligation as a commissioned officer
- Recipients participate in the Corps of Cadets while attending UNG.
- After graduation, scholars commission as officers and serve six years, including four years in the Georgia Army National Guard.
