About this scholarship
Grade 12 students at Lord Beaverbrook High School in Calgary, Alberta, who are completing diploma requirements, participate actively in the arts program, and show citizenship, leadership, and a passion for art (including supporting peers) are eligible for the George Morley Memorial Scholarship.
One award of $500 is available. Applicants submit an original artwork (any medium, done outside assigned curriculum) and an essay of about 500 words on the piece and their growth as an artist, via the EducationMatters Student Award Application Portal, with artwork delivered to the art teacher or scholarship coordinator.
The award was established in 2004 by Mrs. Yvonne Morley and her family in memory of George Morley, a long-time CBE volunteer.

What else to submit
- Original artwork in any medium, completed outside assigned curriculum
- Essay of approximately 500 words about the artwork, artistic growth, and personal interest in the chosen art area
- Submit an original piece of art work, in any medium, done outside of the assigned school program curriculum
- Submit original artwork directly to the Art Teacher or Scholarship Coordinator at Lord Beaverbrook High School
- Create an account in the Student Award Application Portal
- Be registered in grade 12 completing high school diploma requirements
- Calgary, Alberta resident
- Demonstrated citizenship/leadership and participation in the art department
- Original artwork must be delivered to the Art Teacher or Scholarship Coordinator at Lord Beaverbrook High School.
