Gene L. Reese Scholarship

High school students and graduates from Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, or Watauga counties in North Carolina who are pursuing dental auxiliary careers (dental assisting, dental hygiene, or dental lab technology) may apply for the Gene L. Reese Scholarship Endowment.

Award amounts vary. Apply through the North Carolina Community Foundation scholarships portal.

The scholarship honors Dr. Gene L. Reese, a Watauga County native and UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry graduate who practiced dentistry in Hillsborough and Boone for nearly 40 years. The Tarheel Dental Study Club established the award in his honor.
