About this scholarship

UBC undergraduate engineering students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents may apply through the Engineering Undergraduate Society awards process. The award recognizes strong leadership combined with active participation in sports, understood as a long-term commitment such as varsity, intramurals, or sport clubs; candidates who have demonstrated leadership in areas other than sports are equally eligible. Academic standing is also considered in selection.

One award of $3,200 is available. The award is made by the Faculty of Applied Science in consultation with the Engineering Undergraduate Society. Applications for the 2025-26 cycle closed February 22, 2026.

The award was endowed by G.E. Baynes, B.A.Sc. 1932.
