About this scholarship
The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) awards scholarships of up to $5,000 for a fall or spring semester abroad, with a minimum of $1,000 for short-term programs, to US undergraduates with financial need who face barriers to studying abroad. One application considers students for all FEA general and dedicated scholarships.
Applicants must be at least 18; be US citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients; be enrolled as undergraduates at a US institution (graduate students are ineligible); receive home institution credit for a study abroad program lasting at least 14 days; and have never studied abroad after high school. Financial need is required: a Student Aid Index below 20,000, Pell Grant eligibility, or student loans for the current year. Applications run in two cycles; the Winter/Spring 2027 application opens July 29, 2026.
