About this scholarship
Scholars who hold a Ph.D. in Black Studies or a closely related field that contributes to Black Studies, who will have the degree in hand before the fellowship begins, who are no more than five years post-Ph.D., and who do not currently hold a tenure-track or tenured position may apply for the Frederick Douglass Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Rochester.
Two residential fellowships are offered. Fellows receive a $60,000 salary and $3,500 in research funds per year for a one-year appointment, with possible renewal for one additional year after successful review. Fellows teach one course in their area of specialization per year and pursue their own research in full-time residence.
