Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowships - Academic Year (FLAS)

U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or nationals enrolled or accepted in a program combining modern foreign language training with East Asian area studies may apply for Columbia WEAI academic-year Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships. Applicants need third-year proficiency or above in Chinese, Korean, or Japanese, or second-year or above in Tibetan.

Award amounts vary by level: undergraduates receive a $10,000 tuition grant and $5,000 stipend; graduate students receive an $18,000 tuition grant and $20,000 stipend.
