About this scholarship
California residents who are permanent residents of Placer, Sacramento, El Dorado, or Yolo counties, or who are temporarily residing in those counties while attending college, may apply for Folsom Garden Club horticulture scholarships. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be entering sophomore year or above at an accredited college or university.
Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000 depending on enrollment level. Number of awards varies.
Majors must be in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, botany, forestry, agronomy, conservation, plant pathology, or related environmental fields. Submit the application form and supporting documents by April 15.

- Two non-family recommendation letters
- Applicant's Letter
- California resident AND either a permanent resident of Placer, Sacramento, El Dorado, or Yolo County, OR a temporary resident in those counties attending a college/university within them
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- College student entering sophomore, junior, or senior year (freshmen may apply for the sophomore year)
- Major in Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Forestry, Agronomy, Conservation, Plant Pathology, Environmental Concerns and/or other closely related subjects
- Completed and signed application form
- Official transcript (not a photocopy)
- Separate page listing honors, extracurricular activities, and work experience
- Two recommendation letters (not from family), each limited to one typed page
- Applicant photo (if selected)
- Deadline: April 15 (postmarked)
- Applicant's Letter must discuss goals, background, commitment to career choice, and financial need; maximum two typed pages.
