About this scholarship

Canadian and international students enrolled full-time at a Canadian university, college, or CEGEP technical-diploma program who have completed at least one year of their program and have at least one year remaining may apply. Eligible fields of study are environmental studies, humanitarian aid, education, arts and social science, and aviation, and applicants must demonstrate financial need.

The award provides 42 non-renewable scholarships of $10,000 each for one year of study. Applications close July 8, 2026, and recipients are announced March 10, 2027.

Applicants submit an online application through the Scholarship Partners Canada portal with a personal statement (written or video) connecting their studies to the victims' passions for humanitarian, environmental, or aviation causes, proof of registration, and one referee assessment. Top-ranking candidates complete a short asynchronous video interview.

The award commemorates the victims of the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash. It is funded by Transport Canada's Commemoration Fund and administered by Universities Canada over five years.
