About this scholarship

Outstanding graduate students in mathematics education within the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy at UBC Vancouver may be considered. Financial need may also be considered.

Scholarships are endowed from a fund; award amounts vary.

The awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate application.

Family and friends of Dr. Katharine Borgen (MA 1998, PhD 2006) established the endowment in her memory. A high school mathematics teacher for over 25 years, she became an adjunct professor in the department, contributed to mathematics textbooks used across Canada, and served as president of the Faculty Women's Club from 2004 to 2005.
