About this scholarship
Writers and illustrators of children's books who want to use the Kerlan Collection's manuscripts, illustrations, and books for professional development may apply for the Ezra Jack Keats/Kerlan Memorial Fellowship.
Funding is up to $5,000. Applications must be postmarked by January 30 of the year the award will be used. Study and a short written report documenting the archive visit and how it will inform the recipient's work must be completed during that calendar year. Special consideration is given to applicants who would find a visit difficult to finance.
The fellowship is funded by the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation and administered through the University of Minnesota's Children's Literature Research Collections.
