About this scholarship

Immigrant women who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents living in Alberta may apply if they are returning to their pre-immigration field through professional development or technical training at an accredited institution for the upcoming fall semester, and they demonstrate financial need. Only applicants who worked in a specific field in their home country (beyond a high school diploma or equivalency) and are returning to that field are eligible.

Five bursaries of $2,000 each are applied directly to tuition. Application details are available through the Calgary Foundation.

The bursary honours Dr. Maria Eriksen, founding chair of the Immigrant Access Fund Society of Alberta (now Windmill Microlending), and supports immigrants seeking the Canadian accreditation or training needed to work in their field.
