About this scholarship
U.S. citizen juniors or seniors in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program who are ASCE student members in good standing and have a passion for bridge design or construction may apply. One scholarship is awarded annually; the amount varies based on endowment earnings.
Submit a 500-word essay, budget, transcript, and recommendations by January 15.
The scholarship furthers the education of a worthy student interested in bridge design and construction, named for civil engineer Eugene C. Figg, Jr.

- Detailed annual budget
- One-page resume
- Two letters of recommendation, at least one from a faculty member, submitted directly by recommenders
- Official transcript sent directly by the university Registrar
- Completed application form (PDF) requiring applicant signature and ASCE Faculty Advisor signature, name, and email
- Detailed annual budget using the attached ASCE budget template
- One-page resume including honors, activities, organizations, ASCE activities (offices held), and work experience
- Two letters of recommendation, at least one from a faculty member, submitted directly by the recommenders (letters sent by the student are not accepted)
- Official transcript emailed directly by the university Registrar to awards@asce.org (minimum GPA 3.0/4.0)
- Must be a US citizen enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program, registered as an undergraduate in the fall of the application year, and a Student Member of ASCE in good standing
- Submit application package electronically to awards@asce.org; deadline February 10 (incomplete applications not considered)
