EngineerGirl/EngineerTeen Writing Contest

The National Academy of Engineering's annual EngineerGirl/EngineerTeen contest awards cash prizes to students who use writing (and, in the 2026 "Art of Engineering" edition, an artwork with a written artist's statement) to express how engineers create a better world. First place in each grade category wins $1,000, second place $750, and third place $500, and winning entries are published on the contest website.

The contest is open to individual students of any background or identity in three categories: elementary (grades 3–5), middle (grades 6–8), and high school (grades 9–12). Prize funds are paid directly to the winner or their parent/guardian.

Submissions for the 2026 contest were due February 1, 2026, and the contest runs annually with winners notified by June 1. Entries must not include personally identifying information in the text or images.
