Elaine Borthwick and Allen Soroka Award in Law

Domestic J.D. students over the age of 30 at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC Vancouver who demonstrate barriers to accessing a legal education may be nominated for this award. Ideally, awards are assigned to one student entering second- or third-year.

Awards totalling $3,000 are available through an endowment established in honour of Elaine Borthwick and Allen Al Soroka (B.A., LL.B.). No separate application is required; the Peter A. Allard School of Law makes recommendations.

Elaine served as Director of Admissions at the law school for over 40 years, and Al held roles including Professor of Canadian and American Law at UBC.
